Annually in the glass Industry, over 41% of all accidents are due to Glass Manual Handling injuries?
Many people and businesses are still unaware that it is law to have been trained on Manual Handling within the workplace. Manual handling is any action which involves lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying, moving, holding or restraining objects including glass.
Manual handling also includes repetitive tasks, such as loading and unloading glass onto or off trolleys or trucks, as well as getting into awkward positions.
At Ace Trainers we specialise and take pride in providing the most current and up to date manual handling training. This includes constantly updating our training with the latest Industry Guidance (INDG) from the HSE. As part of this specialist training, we provide training for Glass Manual Handling.
As part of your training course with Ace Trainers we break the Glass Manual Handling Training down into two parts. The first part will be the core subject of Manual Handling and the second part will be the more specific Glass Manual Handlingtraining.
Each part of the training will first start with theoretical lessonsteaching delegates about the Regulations, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 & RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases & Dangerous Occurrences). The course then moves onto the theoretical lessons of Manual Handling Techniques, Risk Assessments, Correct Manual Handling Techniques, structure & function of the spine & injury prevention Each part of the course then moves onto the practical part of the course which includes the instructor demonstrating how to lift safely. The delegates then practice these techniques individually demonstrating they can lift safely before moving onto perform a two person lift with a static item. The course is then concluded with a theory and practical examination to prove understanding.
