In order to become a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Instructor there is a specific type of training that you must receive, which differentiates from Operator Training.
Firstly, before you enrol on an instructor course the trainee must have received adequate training at an operator’s level so that they are aware of the standards.
MHE instructor courses take place throughout an 8-day period. During this time, the trainee will be required to be tested at an operator standard to prove that they are competent enough to progress onto instructor standard training.
Once this is completed, the trainee instructor will then move on to learning how to present both Theoretical and Practical lessons. This is to ensure that they are confident enough to speak in front of a class. To assist with this, the trainee instructor will be taught how to use aids such as lesson plans and breakdown sheets which allows for a more smooth and confident approach to presenting lessons.
MHE Instructor Training focuses on the general requirements of being an instructor, rather than teaching the trainee how to instruct on 1 specific truck. The idea is that upon completion of the course, it will enable them to instruct on any Material Handling Equipment that the trainee has a certificate for.
