Overhead Crane Training

Overhead Cranes (also known as Gantry Cranes), are commonly used in warehousing and engineering operations. The cranes capabilities allow for large, heavy and awkward shaped loads to be lifted and transported to wherever necessary. It is extremely important to understand how an overhead crane operates and reacts to movement as this could potentially cause an accident. These skills are learnt by undertaking formal, accredited training provided by us here at Ace Trainers.

What can you expect from our Overhead/Gantry Crane Courses?

Learning how to be safe and competent whilst operating an overhead crane involves passing 3 testing procedures. These include both a theoretical and practical examination, followed by a Pre-Use Inspection. All of these elements will be explained thoroughly during your training course, however you can expect to be taught everything necessary to ensure the safe use of the work equipment therefore allowing you to perform well during the examinations. The testing procedures are nothing to be afraid of, perfection is not the aim however the safe and efficient use of an Overhead Crane will prove competency as an operator.

There are also other sections relating to overhead crane use that we will cover during the course, including the inspection and safe use of slings (chain, wire and synthetic) and the correct hand signals needed in order to signal other crane operators as to where the load you are transporting needs to be deposited. Many factors involve Slinging loads and here at Ace Trainers we ensure you have the correct knowledge in order to perform safely.
