Abrasive Wheels are used in many areas and industries across the UK and can be highly dangerous if used by untrained personnel. Safety Training is extremely important in preventing accidents to yourself and colleagues around Abrasive Wheels and the machinery which they are used with.
There are many rules and regulations involved within the safe use of Abrasive Wheels one of these is The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) that states anyone involved in mounting, dressing or setting Abrasive Wheels is trained and certified.
Here at Ace Trainers we specialise and take pride in providing the most current and up to date Health & Safety courses. As part of this specialist training, we provide an Abrasive Wheels course.
We can provide Abrasive Wheels training on your company site across the United Kingdom or at our COVID secure accredited training centre in Basingstoke.

During the course delegates will be taught both theoretical and practical elements to ensure they are competent and legal to use Abrasive Wheels. This will ensure that staff are co-operating with the latest and relevant legislation. This will include Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, Safety in the use of Abrasive Wheels HS(G) 17 and much more in the course. You will also be taught how Abrasive Wheels are constructed, types of wheels, which wheel to use for specific cuts and what the specification mark means. Did you know resinoid Abrasive Wheels used on hand-held machines have expiry dates.
On the practical side candidates will learn how to perform a before use on both the Abrasive Wheel & the machine it will be mounted on such as Angle Grinders, Bench Grinders or Disc Cutters. Candidates will then be shown how to correctly mount their chosen wheel onto machine and correctly start the machine and carryout the safety checks. If available candidates will also be shown how to dress a wheel on a Bench Grinder.
