Cable Avoidance Tool Training (CAT and Genny) Training

When digging into the ground CAT and Genny’s are vital. Excavations which have been dug without the prior check with a CAT and Genny can lead to cable or pipe damage which could cause personal injury, expensive repairs and delays. The CAT is used to be able to locate these underground services, so they can be avoided.

The CAT can be used in 4 different modes: Power (P), Radio (R), Avoidance (A) and Genny (G)

A few of the subjects covered on the course:

  • HASAWA 74, PUWER 98, HSG 47
  • Best Practice for Detecting and Tracing Underground Services
  • Reasons why we use Cable Locators
  • Hazards involved with CAT and Genny’s
  • Implications of Damaged Equipment
  • Inspecting of Equipment
  • Safe use of Pipe and Cable Location Equipment
  • Basic locating techniques

Here at Ace Trainers we can offer CAT and Genny training for you or your staff giving them vital knowledge to be able to operate the equipment correctly and safely.
