Ace Trainers are a training provider based in Little London, just outside of Basingstoke, Hampshire. One of the many training courses Ace provide is for the Counterbalance Forklift truck, one of the most common lift trucks used in warehousing & storage operations.
Our counterbalance forklift training courses vary from novice, experienced, conversions and refresher courses and can last from 1-5 days depending on the individuals experience.

Novice courses are for completely new operators who have never touched a counterbalance forklift truck ever before. This course lasts between 3-5 days depending on the training ratio. During this course, the delegate will learn the full theoretical and practical elements of training and undertake 3 testing procedures to prove competency and understanding.
Experienced courses are more suited for delegates who have had some previous experience on the truck, enough for them to understand the very basics. This course generally last 3 days because due to the delegate having knowledge and understanding of the truck, they do not have to sit the full novice course. During this course, the delegate will learn both theoretical and practical elements of training and undertake 3 testing procedures to prove competency and understanding. The course is shorter due to operator’s experience, however they will still be trained and tested to the same set standard.
Conversion courses enable operators to transition from other forklift trucks onto the counterbalance forklift. For example, if you hold a certificate for a reach truck, pivot steer forklift, telescopic handler, or any other type of lift truck, you can complete a conversion course onto the counterbalance forklift within a shorter period. Conversion courses generally last 2 days because operators already know the generic principles of how to drive a different lift truck and have passed theoretical and practical tests on other trucks, therefore it is generally easier for them to pick up the skills needed to drive a counterbalance forklift. Delegates must still complete all 3 testing procedures for the counterbalance forklift despite holding certificates for other truck/s.
Refresher courses are for operators who currently hold a certificate for the counterbalance forklift. The refresher course takes 1 day and includes a general refresh on theoretical and practical knowledge and skills. During the counterbalance refresher courses the delegate must complete 3 testing procedures to prove they are still at a safe and competent level to continue driving a counterbalance forklift. Refresher courses must be done within 3-5 years of completion to ensure operators do not become complacent.
