There are many different types of material handling equipment in the workplace including forklift and other types of machinery. Ace provide training for all different categories of trucks. Each grouping indicates a different types of machines and the weight capacity/machine variant. In this article we will cover the different groupings of forklift trucks as set by AITT.
A Group – Pedestrian Pallet Stackers

The A group covers all pedestrian pallet trucks/stackers ranging from A1-A7. They are electric powered and have different variants depending on the make/manufacturer.
B Group – Counterbalance Forklift

The B group covers all counterbalance forklifts ranging from B1-B4. These trucks can be electric, Gas or Diesel and will have different capabilities depending on manufacturer.
C Group – Side Loaders

The C group covers side loaders ranging from C1-C3. These trucks can be electric, gas or diesel and can vary depending on manufacturer.
D Group – Reach Truck Forklift

The D group covers all Reach truck forklifts ranging from D1-D3. These trucks are only electric powered and have different variants depending on manufacturer.
E Group – Order Pickers

The E group covers order pickers of either E1 or E2. All order pickers are electric powered and have different variants depending on manufacture.
F Group – Very narrow aisle stacking trucks

The F group covers very narrow aisle stacking trucks, for warehouses with restricted space. Variants include F1 and F2 which are both electric powered.
G Group – Container Handlers

These vehicles can be different and have a lot of variations depending on the use, they range from G1-G5 and are either Gas or Diesel powered.
H Group – Tow Tractor and Trailor

The H group covers Tow Tractor and trailer. They range from H1-H3 and are powered by electric, gas or diesel.
J Group – Rough Terrain Lift Trucks (Telehandlers)

The J Group covers all rough terrain lift trucks. These range from J1-J8 and depending on the machine some are fitted with stabilisers. Powered by Diesel.
M Group – Multi-Directional Lift Trucks

This group covers all multi-directional lift trucks. Ranging from M1-M3 these can be electric, gas or diesel powered depending on manufacturer.
P Group – Pivot Steer Trucks

The P Group covers Pivot steer forklift trucks both P1 and P2, also known as pivot or bendi trucks. These trucks are mostly electric, however gas variants can be found.
T Group – Vehicle Mounted Forklift Trucks (MOFFETT)

The T group covers vehicle mounted forklift trucks, which are more commonly known as moffet’s. There is only one category for this machine being T1, however there are many different variations of this truck and it is down to the manufacturer specify these differences.
Z Group – Manual/Semi-Manual Pallet Trucks

The Z group covers all manual and semi-manual pallet trucks. These range from Z1-Z4 and are manually powered, however some types do have electric assistance depending on manufacturers.
MEWP Group – Mobile Elevated Working Platforms

This group covers all mobile elevated working platforms including 1A,1B,3A and 3B. The machines are separated due to their static/mobile abilities and depending if they have stabilisers.
