The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) have recently been issuing warnings of the measures that they will be enforcing for those professional drivers of HGV and LGV lorries exceeding 3.5 tonnes should they fail to complete their Driver CPC training by the legally required deadline of 9th September 2014. These measures will include the issuing of fixed penalty notices which will all be automatically referred to the traffic commissioners who have the power to suspend the driver’s vocational entitlement until such time as Driver CPC training. They will also contact the transport operator employing the driver in question to find out why they have failed to take the necessary action to ensure Drive CPC compliance and may even hold a public inquiry and the option of taking action to revoke the operator’s licence.
