At Ace Trainers forklift training is one of our main specialities. In particular, the reach truck is a forklift that we often provide training for, including Novice, Experienced, Conversion and Refresher courses.
Reach Truck Forklifts are alike to the Counterbalance forklift in terms of the principles of operation, however there are still especially Important differences that must be understood before operating.

Reach trucks are used in warehouses that require stock to be stacked and retrieved onto racking systems. Areas that have high racking systems and tight aisles between these racks are what reach trucks are best at doing. This is because reach trucks usually have bigger lift heights than other trucks such as the counterbalance allowing for loads to be placed much higher, utilising as much warehouse space as possible. Because the reach trucks have an exceedingly small turning circle, this allows for them to manoeuvre in extremely tight areas. This can be particularly useful because it helps to work in hard to get areas where stock may be needed to be placed or retrieved.
The unique feature found on these trucks are the ‘reach’ ability. This is powered by hydraulic systems and allows the forks to extend and retract upon pulling the hydraulic lever. This is useful as it means that operators can place or retrieve loads at very high levels, minimising the need to drive with a raised load for too long, therefore lowering the risk of a tip over due to instability.
At Ace our reach truck forklift training courses teach the operator everything they need to do in order to stay safe and keep everyone working with or around reach trucks safe also. They also learn about the legislation regarding reach trucks and what applies to them as operators.
