If you have booked a course with ace or are looking into it for the future, it may be useful for you to get an idea of what is expected from the delegates, and what the course will consist of.
There are 2 elements to all training courses. This includes the Theoretical and Practical lessons followed by an examination on both to prove understanding and competency. During both lessons, delegates will be informed on all the relevant information they need to be aware of in order to pass the course, and more importantly to be safe at work performing their new role.
Theory
During our theoretical lessons, the information included will vary depending on which course the delegate is attending. For example, forklift training, manual handling training, crane training, banksman training etc. However, in all our courses we teach the delegates about the relevant sections of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 that need to be understood and followed. This also includes regulations such as P.U.W.E.R98, L.O.L.E.R98, Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (revised In 2006) and any other legislation that is required for specific courses. The delegate will also learn how to perform the job they are on the course for, including the do’s and don’ts and how to keep themselves and colleagues safe. Additional information will be provided on the training course by the instructor to ensure that the delegate is 100% confident and understand their new role, followed by conformation questions at the end of each lesson.
Practical
Once the theory has been completed, the delegate will then proceed to move on to the Practical lessons. During this time, depending on which course they are attending, they will learn how to perform their new role safely (as linked to the theory) and will put this into practice. Again, depending on the course the syllabus will vary however this will be made clear during their training course. Nearing the end of the course, the instructor will assess the skills learnt during the examination, as mentioned previously.
Our instructors always ensure to give the delegate as much time as needed to gain understanding and confidence. This is always done by putting the delegate at ease, correcting them on any mistakes and praising upon good work.
