Rough Terrain Telescopic Handlers are mainlyused on construction sites to place pallets onto or off a scaffolding tower or moving items around the site. The rough terrain aspect gives the telehandler the ability to work on uneven ground unlike a conventional forklift truck.
Telehandlers have three different steering modes. These modes give the machine greater flexibility when working. For example, when working around construction sites, other restricted areas and when travelling on roads. These modes are:
One of the main dangers with using telehandlers is the possibility of tip over. The telehandler has a safe load indicator fitted to tell the operator when the machine is getting close to an overload situation.
An overload indictor:
1 Green light – machine is safe, unladen.
2 Green lights – machine still safe, light load.
2 Green & 1 Amber lights – caution required.
2 Green & 2 Amber lights – extreme caution required.
2 Green & 2 Amber & 1 Red light – DANGER overloaded proceed no further. The machine should only let you retract the boom until the machine is in a safe position only then should it let you carry on.
