The principle of training is that an operator must be competent enough to use the equipment without fault. In order to do this, the operator must carry out testing.
During training courses operators are expected to undertake 3 examinations, one being a theoretical test to see what the operator has remembered during the lessons. Another is a practical test which shows if the operator has picked up the skills necessary and is able to operate independently without instruction from the instructor. The operator must also be assessed on their ability to check the truck before use for any damages or faulty components.
Succeeding in these three elements of training will prove that the operator has taken in the information given by the instructor during the course, and furthermore implemented this into their methods of operating. Therefore proving that they understand how to operate the equipment they have been trained on safely and correctly, showing that they are a competent operator.
